The assistant is a conversational AI built into SPLX OS. It knows about your workspace and can help draft text, summarize records, generate ideas, or answer questions about your data. Priya at Bayou & Co. uses it to draft client deliverable summaries by attaching a CRM contact record and asking for a one-page narrative — it takes her 3 minutes instead of 30.
Before you start
- The Assistant module must be enabled for your workspace. Ask an admin to enable it at Settings → Modules → Assistant if you don't see it.
- When enabled, a sparkle icon button appears in the lower-right corner of every page in the app.
Step 1: Open the assistant
Click the sparkle icon (✦) in the lower-right corner. A side sheet opens on the right side of the screen. This is the assistant chat panel. It stays open as you navigate between pages.
Your recent conversations appear in the panel. If this is your first session, the panel shows a blank input field with a prompt placeholder.
Step 2: Start a chat
Click in the text field at the bottom of the panel and type your message. Be specific — the more context you give, the more useful the response.
Press Enter (or click Send) to submit. The assistant responds in the panel. The conversation is threaded: each exchange builds on the one before it in the same session.
Start a new conversation by clicking New chat at the top of the panel. Previous conversations stay in the history.
Step 3: Attach context from a module record
You can attach a specific SPLX OS record as context so the assistant can reference its data directly.
While the assistant panel is open, navigate to a record — for example, a CRM contact, a project, or an idea. Look for an Attach to assistant or Ask about this button on the record page (or a context chip at the top of the assistant panel). Click it to attach the record.
The attached record appears as a chip in the assistant input area. Type your question referencing the record. The assistant uses the record's actual data — name, notes, status, linked records — in its response.
Diego attaches a project record and types "Summarize the open tasks and blockers in two sentences." The assistant pulls the live data from the project and writes the summary.
Remove an attached record by clicking the × on its chip.
Step 4: Save an answer
When the assistant gives you a response you want to keep, hover over the assistant message and click the bookmark icon (or Save response). The response is bookmarked within the current conversation.
Saved responses appear with a bookmark indicator in the conversation thread. They are not moved to a separate location — they stay in context within the chat they came from.
Step 5: Retrieve a saved answer
Open the assistant panel and click History (or the conversation list icon) to see your past conversations. Conversations are listed chronologically with the first message as the title.
Click any conversation to reopen it. Scroll through the thread to find your bookmarked responses — they are highlighted with a bookmark icon. Click the bookmark icon again to remove the bookmark.
Usage limits
The assistant has a usage cap set by your workspace admin (visible at Modules → Assistant → Settings). When you approach or hit the cap, the assistant shows a warning in the panel. Contact your admin to increase the limit if needed.
