Keyboard shortcuts and the command palette

Open the command palette with one shortcut to jump anywhere, create records, search, and switch theme — plus the few other keys that work around the app.

Open in SPLX OS

SPLX OS keeps its keyboard support small and consistent. One shortcut — the command palette — gets you almost anywhere, and a few familiar keys behave the way you expect inside editors, chat, and the live meeting view.

Open the command palette

Where you are Shortcut
Mac ⌘ K
Windows or Linux Ctrl K

Press it again to close the palette. The same shortcut works from any page once the workspace has finished loading. The top bar also shows the shortcut as a button (labelled with ⌘K or Ctrl K, depending on your device); select it to open the palette with the mouse. On narrow screens the button becomes a search icon.

What the palette does

Type in the box labelled Search pages, actions, records… and the results narrow as you type. Use the up and down arrow keys to move through results, Enter to open one, and Esc to close the palette. With nothing typed, you see your Recent destinations — the last eight things you opened in this workspace.

The palette groups what it finds:

  • Pages — every page in the sidebar your workspace has switched on. Labels follow your renamed terminology, so if Deal is called Opportunity, the palette says so too.
  • Quick actions — create something without navigating first: New task, New project, New idea, New problem, New milestone, New lesson, New contact, and New deal. You only see the actions your role can perform and your enabled modules support (New deal is hidden in a workspace set to consumer mode).
  • Appearance — switch the theme to Light, Dark, or System.
  • Help — search the Help Center guides by title and description and open one directly.
  • Wiki — wiki pages, when the Wiki module is on.
  • Records — live search across your data. Results can include milestones, lessons, recurring tasks, ideas, projects, tasks, problems, contacts, deals, companies, people, processes, engagements, and assessments. Search starts a moment after you stop typing.

Mei Lin at Northwoods Outfitters uses the palette for one thing mostly: type "pallet", press Enter, and she is on the Pallet Racking Upgrade project without touching the sidebar.

Other keys that work around the app

Key Where What it does
Esc Live Team Sync view Steps out of the full-screen meeting view without ending the session. Use Resume presentation on the session page to go back in.
Esc Open menus, pickers, and dialogs Closes the topmost one.
Enter Assistant and Chat message boxes Sends the message.
Shift Enter Assistant and Chat message boxes Adds a new line instead of sending.
↑ / ↓ and Enter Chat @mention picker Moves through suggested people and inserts the highlighted one.
Esc Chat and comment @mention pickers Dismisses the suggestions.
Tab / Shift Tab Live Team Sync view Cycles focus inside the meeting view so it stays within the full-screen layout.

Tips

  • Everything the palette can open is also in the sidebar. The palette is simply faster once you know the name.
  • If the palette does not open right after you sign in or switch workspaces, wait a second for the workspace to finish loading and try again.
  • There is no separate list of single-letter shortcuts to memorise; if you see a key mentioned in a tooltip, it is shown where it applies.
