Settings hub — Audit log, Modules, Roles, and per-module settings

A tour of the Settings area: how to read the audit log, toggle modules on or off, manage workspace roles, and navigate to per-module settings pages.

Open in SPLX OS

The Settings area is where workspace admins control who can do what, which modules are active, and what happened in the workspace. Diego runs a weekly 10-minute review of the audit log on Monday mornings — it's the fastest way to catch a mis-applied role or a module that got toggled off by mistake.

Navigate to Settings in the sidebar (it appears for people who can manage the workspace). Settings opens on General — workspace name, slug, industry, and the Reset for all members onboarding control — and a menu down the left side (a Settings menu button on narrow screens) lists the other pages: General, Terminology, Team, Modules, Custom fields, Integrations, Roles, Service accounts, Notifications, Approvals, Audit log, Dashboard, and Billing, each shown only if your permissions allow it. Terminology renames labels such as Deal, Task, or Stand Up; Billing shows your trial, plan, and subscription.

Audit log

Settings → Audit log shows every create, update, and delete action taken in the workspace, with the actor, timestamp, and a summary of what changed.

Reading the log:

  • Each row shows the actor, the action, the affected resource, and the timestamp.
  • Click View full payload on a row to see the full change detail — what the record looked like before and after.
  • Use the All actions filter to narrow to one kind of action (for example, a role change or a module toggle), the All users filter to see one person's activity, and the date filter (All time, Last 24h, Last 7 days, Last 30 days) to limit results.

The audit log is read-only. You cannot delete or modify entries. How far back it goes depends on your plan; the retention window is shown on the Billing page.

Common uses:

  • Find out who changed a user's role.
  • Confirm when a module was enabled or disabled.
  • Trace the last edit to a process or assessment configuration.

Modules

Settings → Modules (the older /modules address redirects here) lists every module available for your workspace.

Each module row shows its name and either an Enabled / Disabled switch, a Required badge (always on — Execution, People, and Strategy), or a Managed badge (a platform admin controls it for you). Only people who can toggle modules see the switches. Your industry already switched on a starting set when the workspace was created.

At the top of the page, the Starter templates for [your industry] card applies or removes starter content across the modules you tick.

Enable a module:

  1. Find the module in the list.
  2. Flip its switch to Enabled. There is no confirmation step; a toast confirms it.

The module appears in the sidebar immediately after enabling. To seed it with starter content, open the module's Settings → View templates page or use the Starter templates card.

Disable a module:

Flipping a switch off asks you to confirm. Disabling a module hides it from the sidebar for all members and blocks access to its routes. Existing data is preserved — re-enabling restores it. A module cannot be disabled while another enabled module depends on it; the error names the module that requires it.

For more detail, see How to apply a template when enabling a module.

Roles

Settings → Roles shows the workspace's role catalog: the five built-in roles (Owner, Admin, Contributor, Viewer, Advisor) and any custom roles your workspace has defined.

What roles control:

Each role has a permission set. Permissions are grouped by module and action (e.g., crm.contacts.manage, execution.projects.delete). The defaults differ role by role rather than stacking in a strict ladder — for example, contributors can create projects and contacts but cannot delete them.

View a role's permissions:

Select a role in the list to open its detail panel. Permissions are listed grouped by module, so you can see which actions that role can perform.

Create or edit a custom role:

Click New custom role, pick a starting point (Build from scratch or a copy of an existing role), name it, and choose its permissions. To change one later, select it, edit the permissions, and click Save role. Built-in roles are read-only — use Duplicate to make an editable copy. A workspace can have up to 25 custom roles.

Assign a role to a user:

Roles are assigned from Settings → Team, not from Settings → Roles. Find the person in the member list, click their current role, and pick a new one in the role picker.

Per-module settings

Modules with their own configuration have a settings page at Settings → Modules → [Module name] → Settings. These pages control module-level configuration — for example:

  • CRM Settings: CRM mode (B2B, B2C, or Both), tags, contact sources, and email auto-log.
  • Rhythm Settings: reminder lead time and feature toggles.
  • Assistant Settings: the monthly token budget and scheduled briefings.

Each module settings page also has a Templates section with a View templates link. Access per-module settings from Settings → Modules by clicking Settings on the module's row, or navigate directly to /settings/modules/[slug].

Changes on per-module settings pages take effect immediately and apply to all workspace members.
