When Diego's team at Bayou & Co. moved from a wholesale-only model to a direct-to-consumer service business, they needed to flip the CRM from B2B to B2C. The switch took 30 seconds — no data was lost, and the pipeline board updated immediately to show contact cards instead of deal cards.
Here's how mode switching works and when to use each setting.
Before you start
- Changing the CRM mode requires admin role.
- The mode change takes effect for every workspace member immediately — there's no per-user override.
- Mode switching is non-destructive: hidden tabs and records reappear the moment you switch back.
Understanding the three modes
| Mode | Best for | What's visible | Pipeline tracks |
|---|---|---|---|
| B2B | Sales orgs with company accounts | Companies, Deals, Pipeline, Forecast | Deal cards |
| B2C | Service businesses with individual clients | Contacts, Visits, Pipeline | Contact cards |
| Both | Mixed models | Everything — Companies, Deals, Visits, Pipeline, Forecast | You choose the kind per pipeline |
The default mode for a new workspace is B2B.
What each mode hides
Switching to B2C hides the Companies tab, the Deals page, and the Forecast page from all members. The Visits page becomes visible.
Switching to B2B hides the Visits page. Companies, Deals, and Forecast become visible.
In Either case, all data is preserved. Hidden records reappear the moment you switch back.
Step 1: Open CRM module settings
Click Settings in the sidebar, then navigate to Modules → CRM (or go directly to /settings/modules/crm).
Step 2: Select your mode
The CRM Mode section shows three radio options: B2B, B2C, and Both. Click the option that matches your business model. The change saves instantly — you don't need to click a save button. You'll see a "CRM mode updated." confirmation toast.
Step 3: Verify the sidebar
Return to the CRM section in the sidebar. The tabs visible to members now reflect your new mode:
- B2B: Contacts, Companies, Deals, Pipeline, Forecast
- B2C: Contacts, Visits, Pipeline
- Both: Contacts, Companies, Deals, Visits, Pipeline, Forecast
Special considerations when using "Both" mode
In Both mode, each pipeline has a kind — either "Deals" (deal cards) or "Contacts" (contact cards). You choose the kind when creating a new pipeline. Existing pipelines keep their kind when you switch into Both mode.
This makes Both mode useful if you run parallel tracks: for example, a B2B sales pipeline alongside a B2C service-client pipeline for the same workspace.
Switching modes back
You can switch modes at any time. Companies and deals created during a B2B period reappear when you return to B2B or Both mode. Visits logged during a B2C period reappear when you return to B2C or Both mode. No data is deleted by mode switching.
What to do next
After switching to B2C mode, you may want to set up a contacts-kind pipeline to track your clients through your service stages. See How to build and manage deal pipelines — the pipeline setup steps are the same whether your pipeline holds deals or contacts.
